Piano reduction and solo part
This virtuoso timpani concerto from the 18th century was attributed to Johann Wilhelm Hertel (1727-1789) for a long time. Nowadays, music researchers seem to know better and name Johann Carl Christian Fischer (1752-1807) as the composer of this effective work for 8 timpani and orchestra.
This version for piano and timpani provides new performance options as well as a better way of preparing for performances with orchestras.
Included are the original cadenza (in an appendix) and a cadenza composed by Arend Weitzel.
